Tempted in the Tropics by Tracy March‏

Award-winning author Tracy March writes romantic thrillers influenced by her career in the pharmaceutical field, and her interest in science and politics. She also writes lighthearted romances inspired by her real-life happily ever after.

Always up for travel and adventure, Tracy has flown in a stunt plane, snowmobiled on the Continental Divide, ziplined in the Swiss Alps, and been chased by a bull in the mountains of St. Lucia. She loves Nationals baseball, Saturday date nights, and Dairy Queen Blizzards—and rarely goes a day without Diet Coke and Cheez-Its.

Tracy lives in Yorktown, Virginia, with her superhero husband who works for NASA. They recently spent two years living in Washington D.C., and enjoy visiting often—especially when the Nats are in town.

The only thing they agree on is the sultry heat between them

Nothing’s more important to Paige Ellerbee than her struggling bakery, Sweet Bee’s. When Lane Anderson, the temporary new doctor hot enough to rival McDreamy, moves in next door, though, she’s sure things are looking up. Until he threatens her business in their first conversation.

Lane just wants to practice medicine responsibly—not argue with the flighty bakery owner next door. But when he finds himself traveling down to the Caribbean to play guitar for Paige’s best friend’s wedding, suddenly the sight of the blonde in a bikini eclipses the fact they can’t agree on anything. And as their vacation romance grows, his reservations about starting something after getting burned by love are washed away like sand on the beach.

But once Paige and Lane land back home, will these polar opposites be able to forgive their feud and find lasting love?

What inspired you to write this story?
I’m a total sucker for fairy-tale romances, especially since they start out a little rocky. Tempted in the Tropics is an enemies-to-lovers story that takes a feuding sassy bakery owner and an uptight doctor, puts them in paradise, and dares them not to fall for one another.

Before I worked in the pharma industry, I worked for Sandals and Beaches Resorts, and I traveled throughout the Caribbean. My favorite island was lush St. Lucia with its mountains, rainforests, and exotic black-sand beaches. What better place to see if the steamy heat between two opposites could fizzle an ongoing feud?

I guess you could say I had anti-inspiration for the swoony Dr. Lane Anderson who’s the hero of the story. I met so many doctors when I worked in pharma, yet none were as hot as Lane with his buff body, dark hair, green eyes, and twin dimples. (Sorry, docs!) But I did use some of the doctors’ personality traits to bring Lane to life. (Hint: They could be a little uptight!) If anyone knows where I can find a doctor like Lane, please leave a comment so I can make an appointment! ;)

How long did it take you to write?
It took me a couple of months to write the first draft, then another month to revise and polish.

What is your favorite thing about writing?
I love getting excited by a story idea, getting to know the characters, and plotting their stories.

What is your least favorite thing about writing?
Sitting so much. Fortunately, my husband recently gave me a treadmill desk for my birthday. It has been such an awesome addition to my office. I no longer have to adhere to the common advice for writers—butt in chair. J Now I can walk while I write and I feel so much better!

If you could be any famous person for one day, who would you be and why?
Ooooh, there are so many fun options here. But I think I’d be Adele because I love her voice, and wonder what it would be like to sing so beautifully. I’d definitely sing all day long if I were her for one day!

What is the oldest thing in your fridge and how old is it?
Pink-foil-wrapped heart-shaped Swiss chocolates that I got when I was in Switzerland in May, 2012. I can’t bring myself to eat the last of them!

What can readers expect from you in the future?
I’m working on the third book in my Suddenly Smitten sweet-and-sassy romance series that began with The Practice Proposal and Tempted in the Tropics. It’s scheduled for release in January, and will feature the irresistible Caribbean resort tycoon Trent Hawthorne whose grandmother is the matriarch of Maple Creek, the small town where the series is set. Perhaps the girl for him is his grandmother’s personal assistant, Cynthia, a rebellious preacher’s daughter who prefers the nickname “Cyn.”

I’m also working on my second romantic thriller, A Shot of Red, which releases in April 2014.
