A friend told me the other day that they don't really like to read my blog because it's repetitive and all I talk about is rejections. I took her comment under advisement (thank you, Betty), and I decided to try and liven things up. Along with my normal rantings of doom and gloom, I am going to post my random thoughts of the day. Here is my first one:

I've never really gotten fashion, so maybe I'm missing the point, but why would someone wear a skirt AND pants?
I didn't do a very good job of staying away from agent-related stuff last week. I received some rejections, so I had to document them, and since I was on the site (http://www.litmatch.net/Default.asp --if you haven't checked this site out, you should, it's fabulous!), I just looked up some quick information. I'm horrible! That means I have to try doubly hard to stay away this week! I'm pretty sure it's an addiction of sorts.

I've been working on my collection of short stories. This one is a collection of western stories. It's pretty fun because I'm collaborating with a friend. After that, I'm debating on whether or not I should work on my fantasy novel or the sequel to my zombie novel. I'll let you know what I decide.
I received another rejection today. First one in a while. I'm trying to stay away from agent sites for this whole week because I've been driving myself crazy. I keep finding all these posts about people who have received requests for materials after 9 days from certain agents, and I'm still waiting to hear ANYTHING! (In some cases, it's been a month!) It really depresses me, and I have a tendency to take it out on those around me, so I'm refraining from looking at things agent related.

I'm trying to get back to writing, which is going all right. I've been sick for the past couple of weeks, so that hasn't helped my mood. I still don't feel 100%, but I have to get caught up on my articles. I'll let you know how that goes!
I found out recently that the 2010 Serial Killer Calendar is available for pre-order. You can access it here: http://serialkillercalendar.com/index.html.

Other than that, I'm still waiting to hear from agents. I've come to a decision, though. I am sending out the last few queries, then I'm done. In reality, I don't have a choice since there are a limited amount of agents out there who deal with horror, but by the end of the year, whether I've heard from all of them or not, I'm going to start sending my book to small publishing houses. It's not the ideal, but what am I going to do? If I can't get an agent, I have no other choice. The whole process is incredibly frustrating, anyway. I'm sure it would be smooth sailing if I did get an agent, but that doesn't look like it's going to happen in my lifetime. I don't know anyone in the business, and, really, it's all a game of who you know. Oh, well. It won't discourage me from writing!
I received two rejections yesterday. Nothing exciting, just form letters. Oh, well.

Another magazine with one of my stories is out. You can access it here:

Enjoy!
I had an acceptance for a short story yesterday! I'm pretty excited about it, and it should be coming out in the next couple of months. I will let you know when and where it will be available. Like most of my short stories recently, this one deals with the Devil. For some reason, I had a fascination with him for a while. I might be over it now, but we'll wait and see. Eventually, I'd like to put together a collection of all the stories I have written about him.

Other than that, I've given up on my short story. I started writing it, and it just wasn't flowing, so I put it on the back burner. I'm working on my collection of western stories now. That one is going much smoother, and I'm hoping to have a working draft by the end of the year.

I still haven't heard anything from the agents I queried. Any day now, any day.
