Good corndog where did the time go? The holiday season is always so busy and flies by so fast. It's kind of nice, though, because then you don't have to dwell on it for too long! My feelings are never hurt when the tree comes down.

So, I'm really excited because I finally got my novel manuscript back from the editor (who did a fantastic job and I am eternally grateful!). The final step is formatting and then production. I don't expect to see a final product for a few months, but we're well on our way!
So I've decided to go for it. After taking some advice from a lawyer friend and going with my gut feeling, I am going to get my novel published with the e-publisher. It's not the traditional method I was looking for, but I think it will be all right. I never expected to make a lot of money at this writing thing, but maybe this will give me the exposure that I need. That first step in the right direction. Besides, it is my first novel; it's a rarity that those make it big. At least the end is in sight for this project. After working on it off-and-on for over a decade, it will be nice to lay it to rest. I think I will finally be able to have some closure and move on to other things.

I have also decided to get off my lazy horse and start working on some things again. Just a few short stories for now, but eventually I'd like to get to work on my next novel. That probably won't happen until next year, though, since we're so close to the end of this one. Hopefully, next year will be just as fruitful as the end of this one has been!
So I had a very interesting day yesterday. Late in October, I sent out my novel manuscript to a few e-publishers. On November 1, I received word from one that they would not accept the manuscript because there was too much passive writing. Not a big deal; I'm used to rejection. I decided at that point that I needed to find myself an editor and get this taken care of before submitting to other places. Then, yesterday, I received an email from another editor at the same company that said they have accepted my manuscript, under the condition that I fix the passive writing. Needless to say, I was a bit confused. After a few emails, everything was straightened out, and I think I have found a new home for my novel.

I know that this should be fantastic news and that I should be bouncing off the walls, but I find myself very reserved about the whole situation. I have almost been scammed before. Although I do not believe this to be a scam, I am still taking every precaution before signing the contract. I think it's weird: I don't think twice about it when I get a short story published on a site that doesn't pay, but when royalties are involved, I'm suspicious. I'm sure it will turn out just fine, and I will keep you informed...
Very exciting stuff to report. Residential Aliens has picked up another one of my stories. It is entitled "A Slightly Different Western Experience" and it is a modification of a story I wrote earlier. It should be coming out around Thanksgiving, along with the other story he is publishing, so you'll have to check it out!

Other than that, I have been very lazy. I haven't been working on anything new, and I kind of like it. Eventually, I will get back to my stories, but right now I am relishing in doing nothing!
It has been a great month so far. "Sohei" has been published on The Cynic Online Magazine, "The Most Important Moment in a 15 Year Old Girl's Life" is on Static Movement, and "Nekros Stratiotis" can be viewed at NVF. I also have another story entitled "The Rights of the Betrayed" coming out on Residential Aliens. All in all I am pleased with my accomplishments, but that now means I have to get back to work.

For Rena

I've been working slightly diligently on some short stories. One is under consideration with an ezine, while the other is still in the editing phase. I'm hoping these two stories will be published, but who knows. The publishing world is so fickle!

I do have three stories coming out in November, though, which makes me very happy. Two of them will be in The Cynic Online Magazine, and I have a flash fiction story coming out on Static Movement. The nice thing about submitting to the same market is that they are generally more receptive to putting your work out. But, it's also nice to try and expand my fan base (assuming that I have one!) by trying different avenues. The only thing I hate about submitting is the waiting. I am not a patient person. Ask any of my friends. But it's the nature of the game, so I try to keep occupied by writing more stories or reading.

I would like to say I keep busy with keeping up with this, but that would be a bold-faced lie!

Good morning to anyone who's reading. I feel a bit silly doing a blog because I really never know what to say. My basic intention is to let readers know about the trials and tribulations I've had to go through to get published. Trust me, it is not an easy road. It is fraught with rejections and loss of self confidence, but when you finally get there, it is well worth the pain and anguish.

My latest project has been to finish my novel. That has been a debacle. The book was first started years ago when I was still in high school, and since then has morphed into the version I have today. I've rewritten it about four times, and after this last time, I've said enough. It's been one of those projects that simultaneously feeds my spirit and drains it. I think it's a good story, but I can't find an agent or publisher who agrees with me. I figure after sending it out a few more times, I'm done. In the drawer it goes. I can't let it hold me back anymore.

Preliminary Post

OK, we're going to see how this goes. I might not keep up-to-date with this thing, but I will try to keep everyone posted on my progress with stories. I hope you enjoy!
